Meet GUS! I am a 4 1/2 year old Chow-Golden Retriever mix. (I prefer to think of myself as a "special edition.") I was rescued by Because You Care, Inc., in pretty bad shape and have been in my forever home with my Mom for 3 years. I have been doing therapy work for 2 years at nursing homes with Asera Care Hospice and work at Stairways Behavioral Health too! My Mom and I are also a certified HOPE Animal-Assisted Crisis Response Team.
Things I Have Learned from Humans: A cute face goes a long way and there is lots of love out there.
Things My Owner Has Learned from Me: Patience, a sense of humor, and to be in the moment (so you don't miss the treats!)
Favorite Trick: High 5, wave, and spin/rewind (does begging count? I'm really good at that!)
Favorite Treat: Cheese, hot dogs (Smith's please), and milkbones
Make No Bones About It, I Am a Great Therapy Dog Because: Everyone is a friend I haven't met yet. (Can you say "love sponge"?)
My Favorite Place to Visit: AseraCare Hospice, Stairways Behavioral Health, The Barber National Institute. My volunteer handler is named Melanie.
