Meet SASSY!   Yes, I am!  I am very vocal.   Not barking...that would be rude.  But I do express myself and make my opinion known to all.  I was abandoned in a barn in Meadville and a kind woman took me to the vet.  He said that I was a purebred English Springer Spaniel.  WHO KNEW?  I was so small.  I looked more like a Beagle than a Springer.  I still had my dew claws, full tail, and markings on my muzzle that looked like I had been slurping in chocolate pudding.  I was given to Dog Dianne (I call her that) who was the Springer rescue person...she cleaned me up and found me a home.  Dianne is great!  I still visit her at Dog Camp every year when my family is on vacation.  Anyway, she found me a wonderful home...something about an "empty nest."  Guess I filled up that nest again.  I've been with my family now for 10 years.

Things I Have Learned from Humans:  Humans aren't so bad afterall.  They have been loyal to me.  Humans can love those who have been discarded as imperfect.  Humans can also give unconditional love to dogs and kids.  Above all, humans deliver treats especially when they go out for dinner and leave you behind.

Things My Owner Has Learned from Me:  PATIENCE!  This was not an easy lesson but my Mom did finally get onboard.  But the biggest lesson I taught her was that you can't count anyone (person or animal) out.  Even at eleven years old, I was able to learn how to be civil on a lead.  Who would have ever thought that you can teach an old dog (or old human) new tricks?

Favorite Trick:  Sorry...I have nothing to say here.  I can do sit, stay, down, and shake, but those are just social skills.  No tricks up my sleeves.
Favorite Treat:  Who's got the cheese?

Make No Bones About It...I Am a Great Therapy Dog Because:  I have been abandoned, I have been rescued, I have been loved.  And the best of these is LOVE!  I want to return this love with everyone.

My Favorite Places to Visit:  Parkside at North East, Erie Homes for Children and Adults, Sunrise at Presque Isle Bay, The Barber Center Senior Center, Belle Valley Pre-School.  My volunteer handler is named Cyndi.
