I am a handsome 3 year old sable Sheltie (Shetland Sheepdog). I live with my real older brother Duster and Pat now. This is my second home. I'm all Sheltie...at first, curious; don't like to get in water; love to herd (and what I herd is my frisbee); smart, and loyal.
Things I Have Learned from Humans: They can be attentive or neglectful. It's OKAY to trust and have fun, run and bark and play. It's fun to ride in the car but not to put my head out the window. I've learned to snuggle in the last year. None of them seem to like mud in the house or if I roll in something smelly.
Things My Owner Has Learned from Me: Pat has learned from me too, especially with Julie's help. Let me go at my own pace and I'll get there. Be gentle and patient when teaching me something new. I really do want to please.
Favorite Trick: I have some tricks I like. I like to lick someone's ear when they don't expect it (like in the car). I sometimes jump the fence. I used to get tissues out of the waste basket. I can catch, jump in the air for my frisbee, and return it for the next throw. I shake hands...well, paws... When Pat puts something tasty on the floor and draws her hand in front of it, I can wait until she says "all done."
Favorite Treat: I like all kinds of treats...carrots and broccoli are my favorites. Catching popcorn, eggs...I could go on and on.
Make No Bones About It...I Am a Great Therapy Dog Because.... I am non-threatening...I like to be petted, and am willing to go to new places and meet new people!
My Favorite Places to Visit: Erie Homes for Children and Adults, The Barber Center Senior Center, Borders Books. My volunteer handler is named Pat.
