I'm a 9 year old German Shepherd. I was born in a small town called Staley, North Carolina on January 2, 2004. As a warm weather born pup, I love the beach and swimming in the lake. However, when I first discovered snow, I couldn't get enough! I just love the snow. I have experienced a great many things, met a lot of wonderful people, and have traveled to several places in my short life and I have enjoyed every minute of it.
Things I Have Learned from Humans: I have learned how to appreciate life, and how to bring joy to others. I have learned what is right and what is wrong. I have learned to differentiate what may be a threat and what is safe. I have learned patience, trust, and tolerance. I have learned to respect others as they also respect me. Most importantly, I have learned unconditional love.
Things My Owner Has Learned from Me: To be able to enjoy life and its simpler things. To know that I will be there for him no matter what. That I will be there to protect him as he protects me. That I love him as much as he loves me. Trust, patience and joy. And, again, unconditional love.
Favorite Trick: I can do several tricks, however; but since I am picking a favorite, at least it always seems to be a crowd pleaser...is when I jump over a shopping cart! People just love when I do that...it has actually won me a couple of prizes before!
Favorite Treat: Well, I really have no certain favorite treat, if it resembles something other than dog food, I will probably try it. I am picky though. Of course, people food always tastes better than mine! I only eat good stuff, like chicken, cheese and some vegetables. Once in a great while I get some ice cream and an occasional hot dog. Why do they call it a hot dog, anyway? It doesn't look like me, or any other dog I've seen...I just don't get it! But, they sure do taste good! Some favorite dog treats I like are chicken jerky strips, and the little mini rawhide bones made by Dingo with the meat wrapped inside of them....I get one every morning!
Make No Bones About It...I Am a Great Therapy Dog Because: All my life I have been showered with compliments, people stopping to pet me, and showing me great respect. Being able to be a therapy dog is a way to give a small bit of that back to others who may need it. I would rather be thought of as a friend and/or companion than just another dog. The ability to make a difference in someone's life makes the same amount of difference in my life. Bringing joy to others makes my life that much better. I can help you overcome your fears, your worries, and let you just live for the moment.
My Favorite Place to Visit: Sarah Reed Retirement Center, Village at Luther Square, Borders Books, Erie Homes for Children and Adults. My volunteer handler is named George.
