I'm Penelope! My name is Penelope, but my friends call me Penney. I am a very special therapy dog because I was born deaf! Although I can't hear, I quickly learned sign lanugage and to read basic commands in English and Spanish! I was adopted from the kind folks at the ANNA Shelter after I was abandoned and rescued.
Things I Learned from Humans: Sign language and how to read my commands in both English and Spanish. How to dress in the latest fashion trends. What it feels like to love and to be loved.
Things My Owner Learned from Me: How to cope with a disability, patience, sign language, respect, compassion, patience, unconditional love, friendship, humility, and did I mention - PATIENCE????
Favorite Trick: To give paw and to dance on my hind legs.
Favorite Treat: To chase my laser light and raw hides. I also love to play with my stuffing-less squirrel.
Make No Bones About It...I Am a Great Therapy Dog Because... I can relate to people who have a disability because I too have an impairment. I can teach people to embrace their disability as I have and to be proud and able. I can also teach those that are not disabled to have respect and feel compassion for those of us who are. I am very fun and loving - and I love to snuggle and give a million kisses to all that I meet!
My Favorite Places to Vist: Corry Public Library, and The Barber Center Senior Center (Lakeview). My volunteer handeler is named Kelly.
